Bushmaster Bore Squeeg-E Cleaning System

Bushmaster has developed a new bore cleaning system that does not require the use of patches.

Bore Squeeg-E Cleaning System (Universal Kit)

From the press release ...

The Bore Squeeg-E Cleaning System offers the best and most effective system to clean the chamber/bore of any firearm. It enables the user to quickly clean a firearm faster than any other system. The system eliminates the use of ineffective patches and reduces the need for metal bore brushes.

The Bore Squeeg-E Cleaning System features a pull through system and includes the revolutionary new Bore Squeeg-E. The Bore Squeeg-E is made from a proprietary polymer that is not affected by cleaning chemicals. It is designed to scrape the lands and grooves of the bore to a mirror clean condition and keep the abrasive carbon fouling from harming the bore. The Bore Squeeg-E is attached to a free rotating cleaning cable, preventing the tools from loosening while being pulled through the helical rifling. With proper use, the Bore Squeeg-E will last many years eliminating the expensive and wasteful practice of continually buying and throwing away cloth patches.

Like most shooters probably will be, I am skeptical. The system would need to work really well for me to stop using cloth patches. That said, I am a gun-cleaning junkie (seriously, I need help) and will almost certainty buy this kit when it goes on sale.

Pricing starts at $37.90 (probably for the most basic single caliber kit).

Springfield XDm 3.8 Compact

This has got to be the most confusing gun launch launch since I started blogging. A couple of readers emailed me about the launch of the XDm 3.8 Compact but I thought this was the XDm 3.8 launched last year. Why was I confused? Because Springfield's marketing referred to that pistol as "compact". So just about every blogger and online gun store also called it "compact". Alert TFB readers did note that it was too big to be a true compact. Now this new true compact comes out and I am one very confused blogger!

That aside, as far as being compact goes, this pistol really does fit the bill. It is a full inch shorter than the XDm 3.8 (the "old" compact).

Mossberg Turkey THUG shotguns

Mossberg has brought out a range of 12 gauge pump-action shotguns named after Mossy Oak’s new TV Series “Turkey THUGS”. From the Mossberg press release ...

Mossberg delivers four new high-performance Turkey THUG shotgun models, each engraved with “Turkey THUG Series” on the receiver. All Turkey THUG pump-action shotguns will feature Mossberg’s revolutionary Lightning Pump Action™ (“LPA”) user-adjustable, creep-free trigger system, which provides unmatched accuracy. The Turkey THUG Series boasts adjustable fiber optic sights on all models and two of the models will feature the addition of a mounted and bore-sighted 30mm TRUGLO red-dot sight. The two models with the red-dot sights have incorporated a back-up fiber optic system that allows the hunter to look under the red-dot sight to utilize the fiber optic sights. Three of the models will feature Mossy Oak’s new Break-Up® Infinity™ camo pattern with a receiver-mounted Picatinny rail. Surefire MAG5-60 and MAG5-100 High Capacity Magazines (HCM)

Surefire beat Magpul to the market! David at Defense Review got an exclusive on the upcoming 60 and 100 round magazines from Surefire.

The 100 rounder MAG5-100 looks far to big to be useful, but the 60 round MAG5-60 looks perfect for the M27 IAR.

The MK 20 MOD 0 Sniper Support Rifle (SSR)

FNH's Sniper Support Rifle has been approved for production by USSOCOM and will be fielded in May 2011. It has been given the designation MK 20 MOD 0 SSR. FN SCAR fans will be happy at this announcement.

From the press release ...

The MK 20 was originally designated as the Sniper Variant of the SCAR Heavy now known as the MK17. Upon the MK 17 reaching the status of Operationally Effective / Operationally Suitable and Sustainable, the sniper community within SOF focused on refining the Sniper Variant to more suit the needs of long range, precision shooting. With the revisions, the Sniper Variant weapon was military-type designated as the MK 20.

The MK 20 features an extended receiver which provides the additional rail space required for mounting in-line night vision and thermal devices with standard/sniper day optics, a non-folding precision stock with an adjustable cheek piece and length of pull that provides adjustability and a more rigid firing position for making long range target engagements, a beefed up barrel extension and barrel profile to reduce whip and improve accuracy, and an enhanced modular trigger that can be configured for single-stage or two-stage operation, requires no adjustments, and is ruggedized for field use. As a part of the SCAR Family of Weapons, the MK 20 shares a high percentage of parts commonality (over 60%) with the MK 17, maintains the enhanced ergonomics and improves accuracy.

I wonder what has happened to the M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System. The Army seems to be sticking with the Remington 700 bolt action rifle (M24 and new XM2010) and USSOCOM is going with the SSR.

Lego Black Ops

"Lego Black Ops" is a parody of the recently released computer game Call of Duty: Black Ops.

It is all just Lego figurines but there is blood, violence and explosions so it may be NSFW

The guns used in the video were purchased from BrickArms.

Note the little clip on bipods. Cute.

The President of Slide Fire Solutions emailed me these photos of the final production SSAR-15 bumpfire stock. The previous photos I published were of a test sample without any texture applied. It looks like a lot of fun.
