Mossberg Turkey THUG shotguns

Mossberg has brought out a range of 12 gauge pump-action shotguns named after Mossy Oak’s new TV Series “Turkey THUGS”. From the Mossberg press release ...

Mossberg delivers four new high-performance Turkey THUG shotgun models, each engraved with “Turkey THUG Series” on the receiver. All Turkey THUG pump-action shotguns will feature Mossberg’s revolutionary Lightning Pump Action™ (“LPA”) user-adjustable, creep-free trigger system, which provides unmatched accuracy. The Turkey THUG Series boasts adjustable fiber optic sights on all models and two of the models will feature the addition of a mounted and bore-sighted 30mm TRUGLO red-dot sight. The two models with the red-dot sights have incorporated a back-up fiber optic system that allows the hunter to look under the red-dot sight to utilize the fiber optic sights. Three of the models will feature Mossy Oak’s new Break-Up® Infinity™ camo pattern with a receiver-mounted Picatinny rail. Two stock options will be available; classic (in black or Break-up Infinity) and a full-length pistol grip (Break-Up Infinity only).

I have a 535 turkey gun. its kicks real good with 3-1/2″ Magnum shells. I havent patterned it with shorter shells yet. going to do that soon. bought it new last year. I like that I can take it out and if it happens to rain while I have it out, this thing can take getting wet. its mostly polymer and the parts that are steel are covered with the camo pattern. mine didnt come with a red dot scope like the thug model. I did add a tru-glo gobble stopper and rail to mine. its a good turkey gun for the price.

I purchased the Turkey Thug this year and had an opportunity to pattern it with open sights last week. It throws a great pattern with all the turkey loads I tried but the Hevi Shot in #5 #6 and #7 Magnum Blend patterned best out of the four different turkey loads. Looking forward to March 15th here in South Carolina to see if I can seal the deal on a big gobbler this year.

Wake me when they start making them in a left handed model. If I have to shoot a righty I’ll stick with my Win 97.

    “Turkey THUG?”

I’d assume that means both the back-up fiber-optic sight as well as the muzzle brake are offset by 90 degrees, so as to facilitate shooting with the one handed sideways grip. :D

I guess even the outdoors industry is trying to tap into the “urban market” nowadays.

In all seriousness though, I kind of dig high-rez film dip patterns on shotguns (let’s face it, modern camo is primarily designed to catch the hunter rather than the prey), and being a Mossberg, I’d expect this gun to last you through several Zombie apocalypses.

Tha THUG looks like my 500 with a bad case of testosterone poisoning. The only way to make it more macho would be to add naked lady mudflaps.

i’ve been looking for a turkey gun, and this seems to hit the spot. i’ve been around the 500/870 debate, and personally found the 500 feels better in my hand (location of slide release and safety) compared to the 870. that is just my humble opinion.

i just wonder what the price difference will be compared to a regular 500/535.
