Ruger P90TH (With Chrome Bling)
The Ruger P90TH is a relatively nice looking special edition Ruger P90. It features a frame with a grey anodized finish and shiny chromed (or shiny stainless?) hammer and safety. Instead of, in my humble opinion, the awful looking Ruger P-series grips it features Hogue rubber grips.

After owning a Ruger P95 and really liking that, I wanted something a little bigger, so I bought the P90TH. Great balance and weight, it doesn’t have the recoil I expected and after firing it less than 100 rounds, LOVE IT.
I’ve owned a P90 for several years now. Yep, they are butt ugly, however they shoot well and are reliable as all get out. If you ever lose you claw hammer, your in luck there as well. Might not be as pretty as a Kimber, but it’s as solid as an old dog. I thought about a set of wood grips, but that would be like putting lipstick on a pig.
I am a fair shot, not a good shot, so I let my LE buddy give it a try. He shot a small group of five shots and his only comment was, “Damn, don’t sell it.”
Sell it Hell, I sleep with it. Well OK, next to the bed.
I used to hate on the P-90. It’s chunky. The trigger guard sweeps down making your fingers tight in the space of the front strap a little.
Well, I was gifted a blued one and after finally handling/shooting one for myself I have to say it’s now one of my favorite .45′s. It feels like it will never break or falter. And its accuracy is approaching that of an out of the box SIG 220. Yeah, the trigger guard could have been undercut a little but I got used to it so where I hardly notice it. I mean, I do but it doesn’t make me curse out loud or anything.
So for those with medium to large hands who also have no issues concealing a large DA/SA pistol, the P-90 is a great one. Underrated and a total sleeper.
I, for one hope they never take it out of their pistol line. And if I hear they are going to I’m going to immediately buy a second one.
Guess they had a few left in the back of the warehouse that they needed to get rid of.
I like those ugly Ruger grips! They look “Robocoppy,” for lack of a better term. I also really dislike those Hogue grips everyone puts on their guns these days. They’re soft, mushy and tend to attract debris. Maybe it’s something wrong with me, but I don’t think guns should be soft or pretty.
