DIY Gun Camera

The below video demonstrates a perfectly serviceable gun camera made using nothing but a sub-$10 video camera (available for around $10 or less on ebay), a rail mount and some velcro tape.

The result is a very cool video. I think I am going to have to make one of these.

Cameras are use to help in training. That was the original thread that lead to the subject of rifle cam.

I hope you are joking greentips. Cause people who shoot up schools won’t be alive to post a video on YouTube. Plus your logic is pretty stupid. Ban the camera? Why not ban shooting up schools? Oh wait they all ready did that and it didn’t fix the problem. Why not ban guns on school property? Oh wait, they did and it didn’t do shit either.

A better idea…why not arm every law abiding citizen in the united states? Bye bye high crime rate.

I can’t tell if that thing is zeroed or doesn’t interfere with the iron sights – judging from the video, it doesn’t look like it.

Now he needs to fire it Land Warrior style and see if he can get decent hits like CornerShot.

You can use any rail mount as long as it is flat. My rail mount came with my optic. It was in my parts bin. Gone to Wal-Mart and bought Velco for around $3. Cut it up to the desire shape and the rest is history.

You don’t need a mount. You can put the velco on your rail.

I wonder how long before the shock of the recoil damages the camera electronics?

This is very bad because killers like columbine could use it to record their actions like a fps. It should be banned.

Would be interesting to see a fast course be run threw with poping targets, it give a “doom movie” look to FPS

Cool. I actually have one of these cameras sitting around. It seemed neat, I just never use it. This seems as good a use as any.

That’s pretty neat. What kind of rail mount did he use?

If you’re feeling spendy, the HD Hero helmet mounting package is a much better solution. We’ve mounted that thing to just about every gun we have, with and without rails, and it works like a dream. Even records in 60 fps so we can slow it down later.
