Also new from Browning in 2011 is the Maxus Rifled Deer. As the name suggests, this is a Maxus semi-automatic shotgun configured to shoot slugs.
It features a 3" chamber, fully rifled barrel, Mossy Oak camo, Dura-Coat finish and Cantilever scope mount. The MSRP is about $1600.

Next year Browning is bringing back the A-Bolt bolt-action rifle chambered in 12 gauge. They are (or will be) advertising that the A-Bolt Shotgun Hunter is capable of 1.5" groups at 100 yards with sabot slugs.
The Shotgun Hunter features the much-liked A-Bolt 60-degree bolt lift, a 2+1 magazine capacity (detachable/hinged box magazines), 3" chamber and fibre optic open sights. The barrel is 22" in length with a 1:28" twist. The weight of the gun is 7 lbs (and 2 oz for the wood stocked model).
Three models will be on offer. The difference between the models are the stocks: a walnut, a dura-touch coated synthetic stock and a camo stock. The black dura-coat stocked model is called the "Shotgun Stalker", while the other two are called "Shotgun Hunter".
MSRP will be between $1099 and $1299.

The Australian Defense Force has procured $1.6 million worth of HK417 rifles.
Presumably they also discovered that in Afghan terrain you need a designated marksmen type rifle in at least 7.62x51mm NATO.

Caleb has reviewed the Winchester PDX1 self-defense ammunition for the Taurus Judge revolver ...
The PDX1 round was pretty obviously designed for the Judge, as there are already decent buckshot and slug loads out there for .410 shotguns. This round uses three “defense disks” which are backed by 12 BB-sized shot pellets.
Vegas gun blogger "702" has posted a review of the LAR Grizzly OPS-4 Upper Receiver with ambidextrous reciprocating side charging handles.
I really like the look and can appreciate the utility of a left-side charging handle (I am right handed).
I love this blog and its readers! Just yesterday I blogged that I had heard that the New Zealand Army was evaluating the FN SCAR rifle. Today a reader emailed in a photo, dated December 2009, of a Kiwi solider using a SCAR during a training exercise.
