Springfield Armory has introduced a new competition ready 1911 called the Range Officer. It is essentially a cheaper version of the Springfield Trophy Match and TRP pistols.
There is a "limited edition" of the Range Officer. The above pistol, the 1st of 500, is on sale on GunBroker. Here is where things get interesting. There is no difference between the limited edition and the regular pistol, other than the "X of 500" engraving. The limited edition even shares the same SKU as the normal pistol. This means it is not a limited edition at all. These guns are simply the first 500 made. It would be much more honest to call it the "First Batch" or "First Edition" ( like the Walther PK380 First Edition ). Giving it a slightly better, or different, grip and/or finish would also go a long way to make it unique and would be far more honest.

Russian mil-blogger Vitaly Kuzmin was kind enough to email me photos of the MTs-255 Tactical Revolver Shotgun. I blogged about the MTs-255 last year but was only able to find photos of its hunting counterpart. The Tactical model is really one bad-ass shotgun.
They are using the SIG550 (aka. Classic) forend and sidefolding stock. Troubleshooter, a reader of the blog, emailed me to say that lower receiver is similar in contour to the 5.56mm version and therefor the deep magwell (deep compared to the AK) probably prevents AK-47 drum magazines from being used.

KRISS Arms group (Switzerland) has purchased Sphinx Arms, a Swiss pistol manufacturer.
Sphinx 3000 Tactical S.W.A.T. (chambered in 9x19mm and 9x21mm)
The immediate benefit of this acquisition is that Sphinx pistols will be imported into the USA and Canada by KRISS USA (formally known as KRISS TDI), who is the US subsidiary of KRISS Arms group (Switzerland).
An Australian company called Rimfire Research are developing a range of front locking rimfire rifles.
Two rifle actions are being developed. The short action will be built around the .22 LR cartridge and the long action around the .22 Magnum. The bolts will be the minimum size needed to accommodate these cartridges. They will feature three front locking lugs, mechanical ejection and controlled round feed.
Apparently many years ago Mauser produced a front locking .22 rifle, as did a Russian firm, although neither produced them in much quantity.
