Commemorating the 75th anniversary of the introduction of the .357 Magnum®, Smith & Wesson is proud to introduce this limited edition, beautifully engraved firearm.
The 75th Anniversary Model 27 is lavishly covered with American scrolls. Smith & Wesson's master engraver is the artist behind the stylized design, machine engraved with precision and the finest attention to detail.
Only 500 of the anniversary model will be produced with a serial number range of SFY0001 through SFY0500.
Each of the limited edition firearms will come in a cherry-stained, glass top presentation case. Own this highly collectable piece of Smith & Wesson history before it is gone!
I am not sure what the set it retailing for. The gun with serial number SFY0001 is being auctioned at Gunbroker with proceeds going to the USA Shooting Team to help them go to the 2012 Olympics in London.

nice looking gun, but i stick with my S&W model 19 4″ its the most accurate hand gun ive ever shot beside my sig p238
A lock on this gun, REALLY???? S&W are freakin idiots!
To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the .357 Magnum cartridge S
Does bring back memories. A Model 27 was my first “duty” revolver, about 1969. I was issued a little Model 10 (.38 special) but never carried it, I went out and bought a 5″ barreled M27.
Easily the most accurate handgun I ever owned; I shot some 2″ groups with the thing at 50 yards. (off a rest, of course)
However, it was also big and heavy, and that 5″ barrel meant I had to have a swivel holster…..You couldn’t sit in the police car with a regular rig.
So…I traded it even for an M19 4″. Very nice weapon as well, but the M27 had the “deluxe” finish and the checkering and all… Shoulda kept it.
Cbg- they aren’t talking about the lock on the case, but the lock on The hammer of the gun. They fail alot and everyone hates them. But S&W cares more about apperancss than about their customers.
+1 on the lock and the machine engraving. True, it will still probably be far more expensive than I can pay, but it seems like a faux collectible. There is a point when serious collectors would gladly add on another $1000 for something that is a real masterpiece, instead of just imitating the look of one.
Hudson, they’re “shooting” with lasers now so I can’t see any reason they can’t hold it in the UK.
John C, There are only 500 being made and I’m sure more than 500 peopel aren’t bothered by the lock. In other words, none.
cbg, They aren’t talking about the gold lock on the box. Of course nobody cares about that. If you look above the cylinder release, you’ll see a little hole. That’s what they’re talking about.
i actually really like the way the lock looks aesthetically i feel like the gold really complements the box, and besides it makes it more difficult for your pesky room mate to get to your expensive handgun and start popping off rounds.
Doesn’t Smith and Wesson understand how many sales they lose because of the locks? That’s such a beautiful gun that I would actually consider buying one, if it wasn’t for the lock. They really need to figure out what the customer want, not what some bureaucrat who has never fired a gun before wants.
The engraving doesn’t look right. It’s isolated and stingy. It should spread out more, cover all the surface that it’s on.
They’re going crazy with this robot engraver thing. To act like machine engraved is hi-grade and give it the presentation box is a bit much. Before I decided on an LCR BGXS, I considered making the 442 Centennial a beater BUG with personality but even with LEO pricing and the $50 rebate, it’s still overpriced.
“2012 Olympics in London” I believe the shooting is being held in France since it is illegal in Great Britain.
And “Machine Engraved”? Well, that’s certainly the hallmark of master craftsmanship that folks will be willing to pay a premium for.
Very pretty.
I don’t have enough “shooters” yet…not quite ready for a gun in a box
+1 on the lock……really? On a gun like this?
It looks cheep and Llama-ish, and that lock on the side reeks of liberalistic “we better put more saftey devices on your gun, cos you´re just a child”…
Meh. It’s got that damnable lock on it. Totally ruins any sentimental value.
