H&K MR556 listed on Gun Broker

An enthusiast entrepreneurial gun dealer from Luxemburg, WI has listed a H&K MR556 (the semi-auto H&K 416) on Gun Broker with a Buy Now price of $2,995. He admits that he will not receive delivery of the rifle until next month.

In February I broke the news that the HK556 would have an MSRP of $2,995. Once the rifles hit the shelves the price should fall below the MSRP.

The Executive Holster

SayUncle designed a holster that is now being sold. Uncle's non-biased1 review ...

This is a high quality holster. The materials are top notch and the quality is excellent.

Unlike my other pocket holsters, this one is rigid. My other pocket holsters are softer leather. Over time, they form to the gun and look more like a gun when in your pocket. And that’s not what you want. I don’t see that being an issue with The Executive. The leather is pretty darn rigid and takes some effort to form into the shape of you pocket.

  1. SayUncle makes no money off it.

Chinese Army Marksman Competition

These Chinese operators sure know their craft.

BadassWeakling explained what the video is showing ...

I'm only 5 minutes in, but apparently there is a national marksmanship competition coming up.

Every "group" (battalion? company?) only gets to send 3 people to the national competition, so for the first 5 minutes they are trying to cut down their top 4 shooters to 3.

One of the guys has a injured leg muscle, and his weapon, which he's used for 3 years and taken to 10 competitions, has a malfunction. That's where you see his break into the grip to access maintenance tools.

Black Powder .45 ACP

Cemetery recently experimented with blackpowder .45 ACP loads.

Recently did a Wild Bunch match where I used black powder 45acp loads, which isn’t a new concept, seems darksiders have been doing this for years. But was more curious to see what it felt like, and how the 1911 functioned. Plus it would be cool to see all that hellfire and brimstone belching from a self loading pistol.

...

Most importantly, some flames went two to three feet out from the muzzle. Way cool.

Pack Heat to Protect Valuables from Airline Theft

Bruce Schneier advocates packing a pistol or a starter pistol in luggage which contains expensive items such as cameras so that the TSA pay special attention to it ...

A "weapons" is defined as a rifle, shotgun, pistol, airgun, and STARTER PISTOL. Yes, starter pistols - those little guns that fire blanks at track and swim meets - are considered weapons...and do NOT have to be registered in any state in the United States.

I have a starter pistol for all my cases. All I have to do upon check-in is tell the airline ticket agent that I have a weapon to declare...I'm given a little card to sign, the card is put in the case, the case is given to a TSA official who takes my key and locks the case, and gives my key back to me.

That's the procedure. The case is extra-tracked...TSA does not want to lose a weapons case. This reduces the chance of the case being lost to virtually zero.

It's a great way to travel with camera gear...I've been doing this since Dec 2001 and have had no problems whatsoever.

Starter pistols can be bought for around $50 but if you packed a toy cap gun and called it a starter pistol the TSA would be none the wiser.
