Fire and Explosion at Nosler Bullet Plant

There was an explosion at the Nosler plant. KTVZ report

A massive explosion at an ammunition plant sent shock waves through southwest Bend Wednesday afternoon, but a quick evacuation helped save all 100 workers inside. Now, investigators are trying to figure out what happened

It all happened around 2:15 p.m. inside the 22-year-old, 80,000-square-foot Nosler Inc. building on SW Columbia St. near Simpson Avenue.

When it happened, many feared the worst, but incredibly, everyone made it out of the building safely.

I am pleased nobody was hurt. Ammunition factory explosions are disturbingly common. The last one was at the Prvi Partizan factory back in September. They were not so lucky. Six people died.

UPDATE: Just two weeks ago there was an explosion at the MDM Muzzleloader plant. Two died.

Actually, and unfortunately, there was an explosion in Colebrook, NH a couple weeks ago at an MDM Muzzleloader warehouse and manufacturing facility. All of the people were not so lucky; two lost their lives. http://www.wmur.com/news/23568694/detail.html

    • Sturta, that is very sad. I have updated the blog.

  • I was just down there a couple months ago checking the place out and visiting my folks. Really glad to hear that everybody was ok, they are a great group of people down there.
