Glock has appeared to be losing market share so this press release from the company is interesting ...
"Glock, Inc. is extremely pleased with the increase in both sales and market share for 2010 and have broken all previous sales records. These sales were strengthened by our newest generation in pistols, the Glock 22 Gen4 and the Glock 17 Gen4," explained Vice President Gary Fletcher. "The Gen4 technology has enhanced our product line with several new design features and we await the release of the Glock 23 Gen4 and Glock 19 Gen4 this summer.
Additionally, Glock is expanding its operations here in the United States with manufacturing and exporting of our product made in the U.S. Our current orders are very strong and we expect to maintain this momentum throughout fiscal year 2011."
Glock, Inc. stays committed to producing the most reliable and durable products for more than 65% of Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement agencies in the United States. Being first to implement the new Gen4 platform has been an easy decision for a few agencies. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in Tampa, Florida, the Charleston Police Department in Charleston, West Virginia, the Kenosha Police Department in Kenosha, Wisconsin and the Madison County Sheriff's Office in Edwardsville, Illinois have enthusiastically adopted the new Gen4 pistol.

While 1911s have been around for about 100 years, any new product line from a major firearm maker like Remington really is a big deal. The first reviews of the Remington 1911 R1 have started rolling in.
Richard Mann at Tactical Life has reviewed the new pistol ...
Serious minded self defense practitioners and other savvy gun owners will first want to know if it’s reliable, accurate and everything a real 1911 is supposed to be. I’m at 367 rounds and counting.
Over at the NRA's Shooting Illustrated the editor, Guy Sagi, has taken plenty of beautiful photos of the pistol ...

Discovery Channel reports ...
Adapting technology found in flat screen television sets, scientists have created a thin film that converts infrared light into visible light. The technology could give cell phones, eyeglasses and car windshields cheap, lightweight night vision.
This would be a game changer. Current generation thermal imaging and image intensifier systems are big and bulky.

If this technology becomes cheap enough for cell phone and car windscreens, it will change the way wars are fought. Few countries can afford to equip their troops with night vision gear. Fewer still are approved for export by the State Department. I have no doubt that the Taliban would to get their hands on night vision gear.

We now know why H&K guns are so expensive! It is because mansions, aircraft and yachts are so damned expensive!
US Hedge fund investors allege that Heckler & Koch Beteilungs GMBH (not to be confused with its US subsidiary H&K USA) majority owner Andreas Heeschen used part of a 100 million euro loan that the company took out to purchase 40 million euros worth of property, 12 million euros worth of aircraft and a 12.5 million euro yacht!
The lawsuit was filed in New York State. Heeschen denies the allegations.
