Anschutz Hunting Series 1780

Anschutz has introduced a new line of centerfire hunting rifles. Currently a .308 Win. model is available with 30-06, 8x57mm IS and 9.3x62mm to be added to the lineup soon.

The .308 model features a single stage trigger and 22" barrel. It weights in at 7.27 lbs.

This new bolt action rifle with cam cocking is used in our centerfire rifles. The exceptionally smooth action permits rapid and reliable functioning, a well-known factor in the ANSCHÜTZ biathlon rifles. The one-piece firing pin has a defined end stop area to prevent damage from dry firing. Lock up is made by a two-row, six-lug bolt (2x3) directly to the barrel; allowing a quick, short 60° bolt throw. The matt black anodized receiver, made of high-strength aluminum alloy, incorporates the ANSCHÜTZ Wave Style and is drilled and tapped for mounting telescopic sights. The cocking mechanism has gas vent holes which, in the event of cartridge failure, direct the gas safely to the side. The sliding safety catch on the right hand side blocks the trigger sear in the safe position. The ergonomically designed safety catch is easily and silently operated. The integrated bolt handle lock reliably prevents inadvertent opening of the bolt when carrying the firearm.

I have this model in 1770 (.223), with factory ammo winchester 55 gr, first time out shout 3/4 inch groups at 100 yards, Wonderful rifle to say the least, used a leupold 3-9×40, should be using a swarovski. Beautiful rifle. Bolt is way over built.

If only money weren’t so tight these days, it would be no exaggeration to say:

    “I’ll take TWO!”

    Steve,

It is a pleasure to send you this information. I know that you have many followers who would appreciate this news. Yes, being an Anschutz it will be superlatively accurate. I’d love to check one out in person – they aren;t available at any of the big stores in the Chicagoland area though they should be soon.

If it were two ROWS of 3 lugs, it would still have a 90 Degree throw. If it has three rows of 2 lugs, it would be 60 degrees.
