LaRue Tactical was forced to renamed their OSR rifle after Dick Swan of A.R.M.S trademarked the term "OSR". Dick has been going after many tactical gun companies. Earlier this year he successfully sued Troy Industries and is currently litigating against LaRue and Magpul.
The good news is that the OBR, after much delay, is shipping.
Thanks to Isaac for the info.
Springfield has introduced a compact version of the XD(m) pistol called the 3.8. Its name refers to the barrel length which is 3.8" long, 0.7" shorter than the standard XD(m). The name is sure to confuse many who will think it refers to the .380 cartridge.
The 3.8 model features non-slip slide serrations which have a kink in them, unlike the standard model which has straight serrations.

Generally I dislike camo on pistols, but this arctic-style digital pattern looks really sexy. The polar bears will not see you coming!

The Sig P250 2SUM1 is a package made up of a full-sized and a subcompact 9mm Sig P250 pistol. The idea is that the full-sized model will be used for home defense and/or sport, while the compact will be used for concealed carry.
Only one fire control unit is provided and it must be switched between the pistols.
Top Gun Supply is listing it for $759.95.
This video, produced by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, shows how different shotgun rounds impact ballistic gel. They show standard rounds as well as specialty flare and breaching rounds and the exotic bolo, flatteche and dragons breath shell.
Flare rounds look nasty. They do not look like they would kill, but they have enough energy to embed themselves in soft tissue and burn inside the body.

The MILES training system "god gun".
From Bryan Jones's blog ...
A rifle or sidearm for instance could not disable a tank while conversely heavier weapon systems can do more damage or cause injury to greater numbers of individuals. However, the most powerful weapon in the NTC is a small blue sidearm called the "god gun". This electronic weapon instantaneously "kills" personnel or vehicles and removes them from the fight when participants are within the kill zone or blast radius of virtual explosions delivered from both grenades and IEDs.
Bryan took this photo when he visited Medina Wasl, the fake Iraqi village at Fort Irwin's National Training Center. His blog post about the visit is definitely worth reading.
A while back I was surprised to see searches for the "Bushmaster ACR" rising to the top of the list of search engine terms used to find The Firearm Blog on search engines. Over the past month it it has risen to the top search term.
I was surprised because compared to the AKs, M4s and Glocks of the world, the ACR is relatively unknown outside of the industry. I finally realized why this is: the gun is featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warefare 2, which was launched last month.
Bushmaster ACR with the mythical heart beat sensor.
Have any other bloggers noticed the call of duty effect?
Benelli and Beretta seem to be competing with each other to produce the lightest shotgun autoloading shotgun. Earlier this year Benelli introduced the Vinci, which they claimed was one of the lighest autoloading shotguns available. Beretta recently responded with the Beretta Xplor, which is even lighter than the Vinci.
Benelli now claim they have designed the lightest autoloader in the world and will unveil it at SHOT Show.
This competition would make sense if they were separate companies but since 2000 Benelli has been owned by Beretta.
Accurate Shooter reports that Lapua will soon introduce a .308 Winchester case that uses small primers instead of large rifle primers.
Adam Braverman of Nammo-Lapua just confirmed that Lapua, at the behest of the U.S. Palma team, has been quietly developing a NEW version of the .308 Winchester cartridge that has a small BR-style primer pocket. That’s right, this is no joke. Lapua has crafted small primer pocket .308 Winchester brass that will be introduced at SHOT Show in Las Vegas (Jan. 19-22).
Apparently small primers are more consistent than large primers and therefor more accurate. It won't be long till we see wildcats based on this case.
