Why do y’all keep bringing up the Defender???
The Ghost is a custom XSE Lightweight Commander.
BIG difference in reliability and felt recoil.
The Lightweight Commander has been a proven performer for over 60 years now.
And there are still those of us out here who absolutely love and even prefer that grip safety. Although I will confess that I liked the previous Colt wide grip safety better. But I have never seen one in stainless for sale. Well that would fit a Series 90 that is.

What is special is that its a Colt! Ghost ring sight, coupled with fiber optics up front…..slick black grips (two pair), not to mention the lightweight commander is the perfect CCW hardware.

Okay, screw the series 80, had a series 70 trigger system installed. Ambi-safety sucked, felt like it was two stages and gritty. Also a cast piece, so I had a Wilson Combat forged right handed safety installed. Outstanding performance, equal to my Dan Wesson C-Bob.

Defenders are gonna jam! Spring system of the 1911 was never meant to be utilized in this fashion. Recoil of a defender? Average, hardly extreme.

My wife’s carry gun is a Colt New Agent that got a tune-up and trigger job in the Colt custom shop. All you weenies scared of a 1911 .45 ACP should know my wife can put 6 rounds 12 yards downrange and cover the holes with a silver dollar. Ain’t nothin wrong with Colt. (or my wife )

Magnificent 7, you’d be surprised. Some otherwise macho men are recoil wimps and some of the most petite, delicate-looking women don’t seem to feel recoil at all.

Colt Defender is a powerful 45acp 1911 pistol.Has a tendency to jam if not cleaned every 200 rounds.Very accurate if you grip with both hands hold tight.Extreme recoil every round, not a gun for women macho men only Magnificent 7.

Colt still insists on keeping that ugly and unpractical beavertail grip safety. I can only speculate it is saving money some labor costs. That alone has kept me from buying a Colt pistol, the last time I purchased a Colt 1911 was in the 1980′s. I own only one Colt out of an extensive collection of pistols.

Ermac, it’s a ‘Ghost Commander’, which means if you are in a tricky situation, you can use it to summon an army of undead to help you.

    Who ya gonna call?
