Sailors from my country (Philippines) have become prey to these lowlifes. One ship manned and captained by Filipinos was taken over at the Gulf of Aden and the entire crew subsisted almost entirely on water collected from an air conditioner and a loaf of bread during their ordeal. Their ship's rooms also bore the bullet holes courtesy of the pirates as they partied up the ship. When their ransom was finally dropped (after months; by a plane), they were let go and a Dutch ship mercifully spotted them, gave them supplies, fuel, food, medical check-ups, and armed escort.
