Turning Destroyed Guns into Art

Chauss513 is an artist whose unusual medium is guns that have been destroyed by the U.S. Attorney's Office. He turns the firearm pieces he receives into furniture and steampunk-esque replica guns. His latest batch of raw material come from a local gun buy-back program.

Chauss513 creations are for sale and he can be contacted through Flickr. His Flickr account has over a hundred photos of his many creations. I highly recommend checking it out.

Thanks to Todd for putting me in contact with his friend Chauss513.

So how do we obtain these parts from our local buy backs?

Cool-looking stuff. Fit for sci-fi. (Serenity or Firefly, anyone?) Revolver grips on shotguns/rifles. Who’d'a thunk it?

Cool work. I particularly like Triplex Cobalt Mass Desocializer.

Don’t take this to be negative AT ALL toward the artist but seeing parts from some of my favorites in there feels like spotting a dead kitten on the sidewalk. As a guy who cleans and oils his arsenal religiously and stores everything in hardware-friendly conditions, it’s kind of sad to see them that way.

Guns destroyed after a buy-back scam? I think I’m going to be… sick.

That second one from the top looks like a Brute Spiker from the Halo Games.

I really like the second one. Now only if it was not inoperable…….=(

I have to agree with the other sentiments. Seeing all these poor firearms being destroyed is most depressing.

The “shotgun wedding” ring is pure genius.

Interesting stuff. I agree the second one looks like Mel’s sidearm from FIREFLY. The whole point of the buy backs is to destroy the guns, sad sign of the times. I like that the parts aren’t just torched or welded.

The guns in our local buy-back are brought to a scrap metals dealer and then put in a shear and sheared at the receiver by an employee under the supervision of two law enforcement officers. Chauss513 then swoops in and loads up the Ford513, returns to his lair and pumps out curiosities fueled on nothing more than Guinness, cigarettes and Swedish Fish.

That was the other one I was trying to remember.

SciFi’s “Farscape.” With Ben Browder. Loved it & still love it.
