A DI rifle that's very well built but lacks any innovation other then its monolithic top rail? POF has been offering that for years.

LT (Mark LaRue) continues to play off his (still) good name in the arms biz because he gives customers little 'presents' when they order mounts/optics/mags from his web-site.

This particular weapon is a close second to an FNAR...but costs, at least, $1000 more! ???

Buy the FN and shoot it a lot, you'll need that $1000 for ammo!

Solomonon, success breeds competition. If no one ever created a new whatever b/c someone "has this part of the market sewn up", we wouldn't have so many cars/computers/etc to choose from. Competition is always good for the consumer.

Sven -

Regards to the propellant...In that short section of the video it looks as if it might be raining. When I'm shooting in muggy, windless rain, I sometimes get smoke like that out of my ar.

Larue sent me a little pamphlet about this rifle and I believe the rifle uses that traditional AR gas system. In the photo you can see what looks like a gas tube underneath the rail.

SpudGun, LOL, sorry to disappoint. Just plain 'ol Americans - no knights.

It is not all that expensive compared to the SR-25, which runs even higher. But as you say, a bolt-action target rifle costs a lot less.

Suppressor help eliminate muzzle flash and are very good at it.

Solomon,

Companies that makes AR15 and 1911 are rolling in a big pile of money. There is a large untapped market for the AR-10. I see more and more companies entering it in the future.

The SR-25 cost almost 8k. It is made by Knights Armaments so it is always way way overpriced. On the other hand LaRue version is just over priced. There are AR-10 that is in the sub 2k range and accurate shooter. However make sure the magwell can take SR-25 magazine because it is now the official magazine for the AR-10.

'Keep watching to see the knight shooting' - was this a typo or was a man in full plate armour going to show up and start firing off rounds?

*I now know Steve is going to fix this typo and my post will seem superfluous.

As for the gun - I've never quite understood why civilians would pay from $2500 - $7000+ for a 7.62 semi auto battle rifle made all 'sniper-y'. Why not just buy a decent target rifle or a Springfield M1A?

I don't know much about the 7.62 AR platforms, but I looked on their site and couldn't find if this operated on DGI or a gas piston configuration. Anyone have any insight on this? Also, I have seen some of the 7.62 AR's with a forward assist and I understand it makes the upper a bit wider, but is there any advantage to not including one on their system? I would think if they were marketing to the military it would be nice to include it, the GI's are accustomed to having one. But I know the M110 doesn't have one either.

"From the above video. I love how the the SureFire suppressor heats up on night vision! I guess suppressors are not a good choice in night time combat operations."

Muzzle fire is really the greater problem. A suppressor is mostly a thin metal piece - you could easily cool that down with water/contact or camouflage it with some cloth.

About seconds 15-22; what's up with the propellant? I haven't seen that much smoking coming out of the system in ages.

Btw; normal night vision (brightness amplifiers) also work in the near infrared spectrum, that's why this is visible.

The suppressor is alright, normally you wouldn't fire that many rounds continuously and even if you did the muzzle flash would be more of a telltale than a hot part on your weapon.
