Cash for Klunkers I Can Believe In

Sig Sauer clever marketing department have come up with their own Cash for Klunkers program.

Purchase a new SIG SAUER® P220®, P226®, P229®, 1911, SIG556 pistol, or SIG556 rifle from your dealer’s inventory from September 7th through November 30th, 2009, and SIG SAUER will give you $200.00 for your old KLUNKER* pistol or revolver.

    Why have I got the strange feeling that every used pistol on Gunbroker worth less then $200 will be suddenly snapped up over the next couple of months?

    Just when you thought you’d never re-sell that Hi-Point pistol you ‘love’ so much.

    I guess the panic buying is finally over.

    Come on. Unless you are going to upgrade your 15 year old RG 22 for a new SIG [if SIG would accept an RG to begin wtih], this is simply ridiculous. You can sell any handgun that SIG is likely to grant you the $200 trade-in on [there are restrictions, after all] for at least that much, or more. Nice marketing, but not really a very good deal.
