It's not for IPSC/USPSA, the 625s (45 ACP) rule there because of the 6 shot per reload rule. Super cool gun, especially with a dot on top.

Not a big fan of moonclips myself. Or those grips, HIDEOUS! But I sorta like it.

When are they gonna release another version of the 646, L-framed .40 S&W? I always wanted one of those!

The 627-4 .38 Super was introduced in 2002. In my opinion, all of the Performance Center revolvers with non-standard barrel profiles have been damned ugly since Paul Liebenberg and John French left.

The shorter .38 Super should be easier to speedload as it can't flop around quite as much in the moonclips as the .357 Magnum. The shorter case should also eject more easily.

They drop these on the market occasionally - I remember they did a run of 'em back in 2001 or so. Outside of the competition market, I am not sure how popular they are, but in certain circles such as dedicated ICORE shooters, or people who use a revolver for Steel Challenge, an 8 shot .38 Super revolver is pretty much the berries for those games.

Man, now I want one of these.
