Most front desk clerks are, well, let's just say that most of them are NOT working in the hotel to pass the time until their check from the Nobel folks for their contribution to physics comes in. Your average front desk clerk, night auditor or manager doesn't set the filtering policy, doesn't understand the term "filtering policy", and wouldnt' be able to set or adjust the filters if they could. Most hotels do not run their own internet–especially hotels that charge a fee for internet access.

Most front desk clerks are, well, let’s just say that most of them are NOT working in the hotel to pass the time until their check from the Nobel folks for their contribution to physics comes in.

"SUCH AND SUCH TOLD ME I WOULDN'T BE BLOCKED! I'M NOT PAYING FOR THIS INTERNET CONNECTION! I WANT TO SPEAK TO YOUR MANAGER!" I learned this behavior from my mother. Thanks mom.
