Most gunshops with repair facilities have stopped carrying the 597 because of it's dependability problems; ergo, fewer problems for them. The .22lr version is only partially viable. In any other caliber, .22mag, .17, etc....just plain junk. If you need a .22 semiauto, go with the Ruger 10/22. The things never have a problem. Worst firearms purchase I have ever made. It would not feed or cycle. Heard lots of complaints of similar issues from others. Eventually it was mothballed.
