		<description>jimmyjet, while I don&#039;t disagree about the 597 problems, espeically before they redesigned the magazines, Ruger dropped the .22 Mag and the once advertised but never released .17 version of the 10/22 because of problems with the higher power cartridges. You can buy third party 10/22 actions for these cartridges.</description>

		<description>The Remington 597 is one of the worst firearms this company has ever produced.  Most gunshops with repair facilities have stopped carrying the 597 because of it&#039;s dependability problems; ergo, fewer problems for them.
The .22lr version is only partially viable.  In any other caliber, .22mag, .17, etc....just plain junk.
If you need a .22 semiauto, go with the Ruger 10/22.  The things never have a problem.</description>

		<description>I once owned a Remington 597. Worst firearms purchase I have ever made. It would not feed or cycle. Heard lots of complaints of similar issues from others. Eventually it was mothballed. Replaced it with a Ruger 10/22 which is totally flawless. Skip the 597 and get a 10/22.</description>
