Being a muzzle loader lets you use it during some states primitive weapons season. Also, it would be difficult to get the powder/projectile seated right without an air gap from the breach to the powder/projectile and that could cause enough pressure to bulge the bbl.

1 - Nope. It might be possible but it would be more difficult. Well, patched ball might be possible. Conicals, you could...but why would you want to.

2 - I like this guy's method: http://www.castbullet.com/misc/clean.htm

Stupid questions, I've not shot blackpowder before:

1. If the breech opens does that mean you can just breechload your blackpowder rifle? I would guess not since the guns shown still have ramrods.

2. If the breech does not open, how do you clean the bore?

That removable breech also makes cleaning soooooo much easier. I love my Hawken but I would change that about it if I could. Cleaning it is sort of a hassle - though it does kinda smell good. This doesn't seem that different from the Pursuit II XLT (which costs less) but it does appear to have some kind of fancy feature at the muzzle. I'm not clear if it's a short length of bore-diameter barrel, which does really help with loading, or something else.
