This year Smith & Wesson have launched the M&P15 PS and PSX piston operated AR-15 rifles.

M&P15 PSX
The only difference between the PSX and PS is that the PSX features a Troy 7″ modular quad rail handguard.

Kahr have posted a review of their lightweight Kahr CW45 .45 ACP pistol. The review appears in the upcoming Jab/Feb issue of Handgun magazine. Veteran gun reviewer Paul Scarlata writes:
I believe the CW45 would be an excellent choice for those fans of large caliber handguns who need–or just want–a lightweight, easily concealable, fine shooting pistol chambered for the most popular big bore pistol cartridge of all time.
Whether you are a police detective, armed professional, licensed civilian or homeowner, the CW45 should be capable of doing whatever you want or need a pistol to doóat an economical price.

Brownells have developed an online AR-15 builder flash application. It is not the first but the ability to add the items to your Brownells shopping cart and order everything in one go is a killer feature.

It says it is in beta and it really is. The trash can does not work and so it appears removing items is impossible, you can only replace them. Some items can be moved around, while others cannot. Adding an item from one category can delete an item from another category. I have emailed Brownells. Hopefully they will fixed them.
Overall it is a great start and I think Brownells will easily recoup their investment.
Use the application here.
UPDATE: Mike @ Gun Noob has created a set of virtual ARs.
I have blogged about the S&H 2 Bore cartridge before. The problem is visualizing such a massive cartridge with no reference. I asked Jay at Schroeder & Hetzendorfer if he could take a photo featuring a 2 bore and a common cartridge and he kindly obliged.

9mm Parabellum vs. S&H 2-Bore. Click to expand the image.
9mm rifle cartridges are considered big bore, for example the .375 H&H*, yet the the caliber looks minuscule compared to the mighty 33mm (1.326″) caliber 2-Bore!
Individually the S&H 2-Bore Blackpowder Express cartridge cases sell for $49.50 each.
For more information and ordering visit Schroeder & Hetzendorfer.
A big thanks to Jay for the photo.
* Technically the .375 Holland & Holland Magnum uses a 9.5mm bullet.

LaserLyte have developed a “Universal Quick Detachable” bayonet called the PB-1. It features a steel blade manufactured by Ka-Bar.

Be the first to own a Pistol Bayonet that looks as good as it works. This razor-sharp Ka-Bar® blade fits any medium to large pistol with a rail and slides on and off easily with the press of two buttons. The blade handle is constructed from 30% glass-filled nylon for strength and durability. Its carbon steel blade is sharpened to a fine edge and finished with a black Teflon® coating for protection. A LaserLyte original, the Pistol Bayonet is ready for any situation—or just looking cool on your favorite gun.
This is not the first pistol bayonet, The CZ 75 SP-01Tactical includes a bayonet and breach teeth. I don’t think it is supposed to be taken seriously, there is very little tactical value or self defense value to hanging a knife off your pistol. Still, I want one!
LaserLyte are selling the PB-1 on their website for $39.95.
UPDATE: The idea of combining a knife and pistol has actually been around for a very long time. Since at least the 1700′s when a pistol and multi tool were combined..
UPDATE: LaserLyte emailed me the specs:
- Product Number: PB-1
- Compatible Firearms: with rails, medium to large frame pistols
- Material: medium carbon, glass filled nylon
- Finish: black oxide
- Weight: 2.6 oz., 73.71 g
- Blade Length: 2.75 in., 69.85 mm
- Overall Length: 5.75 in., 146.05 mm
- MSRP: $39.95

The latest addition to the M&P15 family of AR-15 rifles is the M&P15-22. S&W have designed what they call “the ultimate .22LR platform”. From the press release:
“In designing the new M&P15-22, our engineers pulled out all of the stops to develop the ultimate .22LR platform,” said Tom Kelly, Vice President of Marketing for Smith & Wesson. “The rifle’s operating features, functionality and durability are exactly what you would expect from any of Smith & Wesson’s tactical rifles. By remaining true to the standard AR-15 design while offering all of the preferred features found on the M&P Rifle Series, the M&P15-22 is well suited for a variety of recreational shooting applications while also being an extremely viable training firearm for law enforcement and military personnel. Shooters will find the M&P15-22 to be a great firearm for multiple uses with the reduced recoil and economical .22LR caliber ammunition.”
