I will admit the Glock doesn't add to the "Oh that's a Great lookin Gun" thing, but for defense and reliability, you can't do much better, regardless of the money. I've had my 23 for 15 years and if something goes down, its the first Gun I'm gonna reach for, no two ways about it. It has a military look to it, and if that was the intention from the start, I don't know, but I bought it for reliability and Self defense. So far, It was money well spent. I was offered $400.00 at this last show I went too, had no intention of sellin it of course, just wanted a rough estimate of its today's value. This 4th gen is on my list for purchase. IMOP, Great weapon, Best 40 cal platform out there for under $600.00. I saw and held one of these at the last gun show I went to.

The serrations don't offer much in the way of improvement, and whoever said they should be facing the other way is correct. That was one thing we all noticed when our 2 came into the shop. It is focused on the carpet, not the top surface of the pistol. The whole top of the thing is out of focus, which is giving rise to all the "can't see x" comments. While this might not appear to be a big thing on the surface, if you have ever done any type of drills in which you have to manipulate the slide with one hand (simulating an injury to the other) it is much easier working with the front of the slide. Their purpose is to provide increased grip so you can manipulate the slide. The “gills” are facing the way you would be pulling.

Wouldn’t grip be improved with them facing the opposite way?

If this is the new Glock, then Glock dropped the ball by not putting anything up by the barrel. While this might not appear to be a big thing on the surface, if you have ever done any type of drills in which you have to manipulate the slide with one hand (simulating an injury to the other) it is much easier working with the front of the slide.
