S&W Model 310 Night Guard 10mm / .40S&W

S&W will be selling the S&W Model 310 NightGuard that chambers .40 S&W and its’ parent cartridge 10mm Auto. Because these are rimless cartridges moon clips will be needed to be used to hold the cartridges together.

This combination of cartridges could be quite beneficial to the budget conscious shooter (ie. every shooter). The cheaper .40 S&W would make a good practice round instead of the hot 10mm which could then be used as the primary carry round.

The revolver features XS Standard Dot Tritium Sights and a Pachmayr grip.

Since HIghtower asked his holster question back in Aug of 2010, has anyone found a good holster for the S&W M310?

Has anyone found a great holster for the Nightguard 310?

I would consider shoulder or belt.

S&w 610 for 40mm and 10 cal … only comes in 4 and 6 inch barrels though. Not as concealable as 310.

    Allan,

I think the Wather PPS in either or 9mm or .40 make for an excellent back up or conceal carry.

Charter arms really missed the mark by not offering their (CARR) in 10mm. A 10mm auto revolver can also fire the 40 S&W but not the other way around.

How about that new Charter Arms revolver that doesn’t need moon clips at all?

If there is another revolver out there that will chamber the .40 round pass it on. As a police officer I am looking for a reasonably priced back up that will allow me use of ammo on my duty belt if my primary weapon fails.

Charter Arms and Taurus will both be releasing .40 caliber revolvers at the end of 2011.

    1) Moonclips are not needed to fire the gun, only to give the extractor something to push against. Otherwise you have to pluck the empties out with your fingers one at a time.

    2) Expect street prices in the $850-$925 range, maybe less. S&W’s MSRP’s assume pretty optimistic markups in the cutthroat world of gun retailing…
