Sako TRG spotted in South Ossetia

The photo below shows a couple of South Ossetia militia. The guy on the right is carrying a Sako TRG.

It is unlikely Finland would allow arms exports to South Ossetia. It was probably bought on the civilian market and then exported. I cannot imagine that South Ossetia would have many snipers so this is feasible.

Their squad sharpshooters (or whatever they call them in that part of the world) are probably using the SVD.

I cannot make out if it is a TRG-21 / 22 (.308 Win) or TRG-41 / 42 (.338 Lapua or .300 Win Magnum). I have never seen a photo of a 41/42 without a muzzle break, but I think the 21/22 can have the Sako TRG muzzle break attached, please correct me if I am wrong.

Does anybody know if the Sako TRG QD Optilock Scope Mount – 1″ Diameter, MED, 35.5mm, Lever Lock, is equal to the stable rings mounts?
Does the optilock move after a so many shots?

RE: Leupold ring scope mounts has anybody had any luck with Leupold rings for the sako trg?

I am just trying to figure out which way should I mount my new Nikon Scope?

    Thanks Neal

Actually, the guy on the right is holding a RPK with a high-capacity mag. If you look closely, both guys are wearing sneakers. They might just be more effective for movement in that terrain than rock-hard Soviet-era standard issue boots.

I don’t know about a correction of any rifle/parts but a correction of those hiking boots is in order. I’m pretty sure he should get some extra PT for those…..AND THOSE SOCKS!!! He’s bloused his trousers into NIKE RUNNING SOCKS!!! ;)

    Hilarious.

    Cool!

I associate muzzle brakes with .338 Lapua, but I don’t really have a clue otherwise.

The sniper appears to be wearing a padded seat on a belt around his waist? In the manner of an American turkey hunter.

Think the guy on the left has a contract with Nike shoes?

Looks like rugged territory, too. And a civilian car.
