I know so many people who hate guns and no matter what argument I put forward they cannot see past the association of guns and death. It is a pity.

It is like how many people think hunters hate deer. I try an explain that I am very fond of deer. They don't get it.

That IS an interesting thread, but what I find most interesting is that the original asker (AFSister) seems to simply refuse any answers that don't fit her "<em>As a non-gun user, I don't see the attraction</em>" starting point. She seems to be waiting for someone to give her an answer that will make her understand "the attraction." But as someone whose already decided that they don't see "the attraction," she just plain isn't going to find what she thinks she's looking for.

It's sort of like (though not exactly like) arguing with someone about what LOVE means when the other person has never been in love. Or, like I had posted in that thread a couple of days ago, why someone's favorite color is their favorite instead of a different color.

Either that, or she wants to keep picking at it until she catches someone saying something that can be used to paint gun owners in a bad light. But that would be cynical of me to suggest, so I won't.
